His repertoire ranges from Mozart\u2019s Tamino, Ferrando and Belmonte to Wagner\u2019s Steuermann (<strong><em>The Flying Dutchman<\/em><\/strong>) and Walther von der Vogelweide (<strong><em>Tannh\u00e4user<\/em><\/strong>), as well as Strauss\u2019s Leukippos in Strauss\u2019 <strong><em>Daphne<\/em><\/strong>, a role he portrayed to great acclaim at Berlin State Opera and in Frankfurt. Critics praise his lyrical phrasing as well as his ardent, dramatic portrayals. With his successful debut as Jacquino in Beethoven\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Fidelio<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, he also achieved international recognition.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2025\/26 season, Magnus Dietrich is a permanent ensemble member of Oper Frankfurt, where his roles include Ferrando in a new production of\u00a0<strong><em>Cos\u00ec fan tutte<\/em><\/strong>, Pang in a new production of\u00a0<strong><em>Turandot<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and roles in the double bill\u00a0<strong><em>Der Zar l\u00e4sst sich fotografieren\/Die Kluge<\/em><\/strong>. He brings his acclaimed portrayal of Tamino to a new production of\u00a0<strong><em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at the Salzburg Mozart Week Festival. Concert engagements include Mozart\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Requiem<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, and Haydn\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>The Seasons<\/em><\/strong> with the Frankfurt Museum Concerts.<\/p>\n<p>Among the highlights of recent seasons, alongside his Metropolitan Opera debut, count performances as Tamino (<strong><em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em><\/strong>) at the Berlin State Opera and Semperoper Dresden, as Alfred (<strong><em>Die Fledermaus<\/em><\/strong>) under Marc Minkowski at the Musikfest Bremen, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and in Valencia, as well as Schubert\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Winterreise<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0in Christian Spuck\u2019s choreographed staging of the cycle. On the concert stage, he appeared in the\u00a0<strong><em>St John Passion<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the\u00a0<strong><em>St Matthew Passion<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Elijah<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>with the Munich Bach Choir and Orchestra, and Mendelssohn\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Lobgesang<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0under Thomas Guggeis in Frankfurt. He has sung Mendelssohn\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Elijah<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with Kirill Petrenko and the Berlin Philharmonic, and Schumann\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Das Paradies und die Peri<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with the Staatskapelle Berlin under Marc Minkowski in Berlin and at Hamburg\u2019s Elbphilharmonie. Magnus Dietrich is also an active recitalist and most recently appeared with Wolf\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Italian<\/em><\/strong><em> <strong>Songbook<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0at Oper Frankfurt.<\/p>\n<p>Since the 2023\/24 season, Magnus Dietrich has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt, where he appeared as Count Hohenzollern in a new production of Henze\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>The Prince of Homburg<\/em><\/strong>, as Emilio in Handel\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Partenope<\/em><\/strong>, as Belmonte in Mozart\u2019s <strong><em>Die Entf\u00fchrung aus dem Serail<\/em><\/strong>, as Leander in Nielsen\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Maskarade<\/em><\/strong>, and in\u00a0<strong><em>Der Rosenkavalier<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>He appeared with renowned festivals including the International Hugo Wolf Academy, the Bachfest Leipzig, Kissinger Sommer, Festival de Santes, and the Bach Academy France. Concert tours with the soloist ensemble Vox Luminis took him to France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. He also enjoys a close collaboration with conductor Johanna Soller, including as a member of the \u201ccapella sollertia\u201d in the concert series\u00a0<em>Cantate um 1715<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Munich-born tenor studied with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and privately with Hartmut Elbert. He was a member of the Opera Studio of the Berlin State Opera. Masterclasses with Piotr Becza\u0142a, Andrew Watts, Neil Shicoff, Bo Skovhus, and Hedwig Fassbender further enriched his training.
