Baritone Yeongtaek Yang has rapidly emerged as one of the most promising young baritones of his generation. Acclaimed for \u201chearty\u201d \u201cstirring\u201d and \u201cstentorian\u201d performances (Classical voice North America<\/em>), he is distinguished by his refined musicianship, commanding stage presence, and exceptional artistic versatility.<\/p>\n

In the 2026\/27 season, Yeongtaek Yang appears as Ping in Puccini\u2019s Turandot<\/em><\/strong> with the Dallas Opera under Emmanuel Villaume in Francesca Zambello\u2019s production, and as Marcello in La boh\u00e8me<\/em><\/strong> with Dayton Opera under Keitaro Harada. On the concert stage, he gives a recital for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, performs Mahler\u2019s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen<\/em><\/strong> with the Apollo Orchestra, and joins the Santa Fe Opera Winter Gala.<\/p>\n

In the 2025\/26 season, Yeongtaek Yang returned to the Metropolitan Opera for his second year in the prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, appearing as Moral\u00e8s in Carmen<\/em><\/strong> and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly<\/em><\/strong>, while covering Ping in Turandot<\/em><\/strong> and Roucher in Andrea Ch\u00e9nier<\/em><\/strong>. He made a \u201cconfident and stylish\u201d (NYCR<\/em>) Metropolitan Opera debut as Marullo in Rigoletto<\/em><\/strong> under Daniele Callegari, followed by an appearance as the Second Nazarene in the company\u2019s new production of Salome<\/em><\/strong> under Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin. The season also brought his Teatro Municipal de Santiago debut as Marcello in La boh\u00e8me<\/em><\/strong> and a return to the Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist.<\/p>\n

Operatic credits of recent seasons include the title role in Gianni Schicchi<\/em><\/strong> at the Chautauqua Institution, covers of Giorgio Germont in La traviata<\/em><\/strong> and the title role in Don Giovanni<\/em><\/strong> at the Santa Fe Opera, and performances of the Forester in Jan\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s The Cunning Little Vixen<\/em><\/strong>, Des Grieux in Massenet\u2019s Le portrait de Manon<\/em><\/strong>, and the title role in Don Giovanni <\/em><\/strong>at Seoul National University.<\/p>\n

In 2026, Yang received the Santa Fe Opera Award of Excellence, presented annually to an outstanding Apprentice Singer. He has also received top honors in major vocal competitions, including first prize in the 2024 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition (Opera Division), first place in the Manhattan School of Music\u2019s 2024 Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition, first prize in the 2022 Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition, and second prize in the 2024 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition.<\/p>\n

A native of South Korea, Yeongtaek Yang is an alumnus of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Artist Program and the Chautauqua Institution. He holds degrees in voice from Seoul National University and the Manhattan School of Music.<\/p>\n
