Acclaimed for \u201chearty\u201d \u201cstirring\u201d and \u201cstentorian\u201d performances (<em>Classical voice North America<\/em>), he is distinguished by his refined musicianship, commanding stage presence, and exceptional artistic versatility.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2025-26 season, Yeongtaek Yang returns to the Metropolitan Opera for his second year in the prestigious Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, where he performs as Moral\u00e8s in <strong><em>Carmen<\/em><\/strong> and Prince Yamadori in <strong><em>Madama Butterfly<\/em><\/strong> as well as covers Ping in <strong><em>Turandot<\/em><\/strong> and Roucher in <strong><em>Andrea Ch\u00e9nier<\/em><\/strong>. The baritone made a \u201cconfident and stylish\u201d (New York Classical Review) Metropolitan Opera debut as Marullo in <strong><em>Rigoletto<\/em><\/strong>, led by Daniele Callegari, followed by a notable appearance as the Second Nazarene in the company\u2019s critically acclaimed new production of <strong><em>Salome, <\/em><\/strong>under the baton of Met Music Director Yannick N\u00e9zet-S\u00e9guin. In spring 2026, Yang makes his Teatro Municipal de Santiago debut, singing Marcello in <strong><em>La boh\u00e8me<\/em><\/strong>, and returns to the Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist in the summer. Further engagements include his company debut with the Dallas Opera as Chancellor (Ping) in <strong><em>Turandot<\/em><\/strong>, as well as a concert with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society.<\/p>\n<p>Operatic credits of recent seasons include the title role in <strong><em>Gianni Schicchi<\/em><\/strong> at the Chautauqua Institution, covers of Giorgio Germont in <strong><em>La traviata<\/em><\/strong> and the title role in <strong><em>Don Giovanni<\/em><\/strong> at the Santa Fe Opera, and performances of the Forester in Jan\u00e1\u010dek\u2019s <strong><em>The Cunning Little Vixen<\/em><\/strong>, Des Grieux in Massenet\u2019s <strong><em>Le portrait de Manon<\/em><\/strong>, and the title role in <strong><em>Don Giovanni <\/em><\/strong>at Seoul National University.<\/p>\n<p>Yeongtaek Yang has received top honors in numerous major vocal competitions, including first prize in the 2024 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition (Opera Division), first place in the Manhattan School of Music\u2019s 2024 Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition, first prize in the 2022 Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition, and second prize in the 2024 Loren L. Zachary National Vocal Competition. His artistry has consistently been recognized for its depth of interpretation, technical excellence, and emotional immediacy.<\/p>\n<p>A native of South Korea, Yeongtaek Yang is an alumnus of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Artist Program and the Chautauqua Institution.
