With the Bavarian State Opera, she gives her eagerly awaited role debut as\u00a0Gilda\u00a0in a new production of Verdi\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Rigoletto<\/em><\/strong>. She also debuts as Susanna\u00a0in Barrie Kosky\u2019s production of\u00a0<strong><em>Le nozze di Figaro<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at the Vienna State Opera. She returns to the Staatsoper Berlin as\u00a0Zerbinetta\u00a0in\u00a0<strong><em>Ariadne auf Naxos<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 and to the Gran Teatre del Liceu as\u00a0Nannetta\u00a0in Verdi\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Falstaff<\/em><\/strong>. On the concert stage, S\u00e1enz is heard as the soprano soloist in Beethoven\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Symphony No. 9<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid at the Auditorio Nacional, and performs baroque programs with Vespres d\u2019Arnad\u00ed in Valencia and Oviedo.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her young age, Serena S\u00e1enz has already appeared in leading roles at many of the world\u2019s top theaters. At the Staatsoper Berlin, where she was a member of the Opera Studio, she sang\u00a0Pamina\u00a0(<strong><em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em><\/strong>),\u00a0Zerbinetta\u00a0(<strong><em>Ariadne auf Naxos<\/em><\/strong>),\u00a0Zerlina\u00a0(<strong><em>Don Giovanni<\/em><\/strong>) and\u00a0Nannetta\u00a0(<strong><em>Falstaff<\/em><\/strong>). At the Vienna State Opera, she has been heard as\u00a0Zerbinetta, the\u00a0Queen of the Night,\u00a0Lauretta\u00a0(<strong><em>Gianni Schicchi<\/em><\/strong>) and in the double role of\u00a0Olympia\/Giulietta\u00a0in\u00a0<strong><em>Les contes d\u2019Hoffmann<\/em><\/strong>. At the Bavarian State Opera, she made her debut in the role of\u00a0Marie\u00a0(<strong><em>La fille du r\u00e9giment<\/em><\/strong>) in the 2024\/25 season, following her company debut the previous year in the title role of\u00a0<strong><em>Lucia di Lammermoor<\/em><\/strong>. At the Gran Teatre del Liceu, where her career began, she has sung\u00a0Lucia,\u00a0Pamina,\u00a0Norina\u00a0(<strong><em>Don Pasquale<\/em><\/strong>) and the role of\u00a0Angelus Novus\u00a0in the world premiere of Antoni Ros-Marb\u00e0\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Benjamin a Portbou<\/em><\/strong>. Further highlights include appearances at the Teatro Real de Madrid (Lisa\u00a0in\u00a0<strong><em>La sonnambula<\/em><\/strong>), at the Teatro de la Zarzuela (Marola\u00a0in\u00a0<strong><em>La tabernera del puerto<\/em><\/strong>), at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the title role of\u00a0<strong><em>Lucia di Lammermoor<\/em><\/strong>, at Palau de les Arts Reina Sof\u00eda in Valencia (Pamina), at Teatro Regio di Torino (the\u00a0Queen of the Night\u00a0in\u00a0<strong><em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em><\/strong>) as well as at the Auditorio de Tenerife and the Royal Danish Opera as\u00a0Zerbinetta\u00a0(<strong><em>Ariadne auf Naxos<\/em><\/strong>). In 2023 she made her U.S. debut at Festival Napa Valley as\u00a0Norina\u00a0in\u00a0<strong><em>Don Pasquale<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As a sought-after soloist, Serena S\u00e1enz has appeared worldwide alongside renowned artists such as Pl\u00e1cido Domingo, El\u012bna Garan\u010da and Rolando Villaz\u00f3n. In 2024 she made her debut at La Scala in Milan in concert performances of Luigi Nono\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Como una ola de fuerza y luz<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and at the Salzburg Mozart Week in Mozart\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Der Schauspieldirektor<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and Salieri\u2019s\u00a0<strong><em>Prima la musica poi le parole<\/em><\/strong>. Further highlights include an open-air gala concert in Sant Sebasti\u00e0 in Barcelona as well as the international gala \u201cThe New Divas: Live in Vienna\u201d (recorded for PBS) at the Wiener Konzerthaus. She also gives regular recitals with guitarist Pablo S\u00e1inz Villegas, among others at the Palau de la M\u00fasica Catalana, at Ithra in Saudi Arabia, and at the National Theater of Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025 Serena S\u00e1enz released her debut album\u00a0<strong><em>BIRDS<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(EuroArts), recorded with the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra \u2013 a lyrical coloratura program inspired by the fascinating world of songbirds.<\/p>\n<p>Serena S\u00e1enz won first prize and the Audience Award at the Montserrat Caball\u00e9 International Singing Competition in 2021 and received several distinctions at both the Paris Opera Competition and the Francisco Vi\u00f1as Competition in Barcelona. In 2023 she was honored with the Opera Actual Award as Most Promising Young Artist and with the Opera XXI Award as Best Young Singer.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Barcelona, she made her debut at the age of 13 as a soloist in Hans Kr\u00e1sa\u2019s children\u2019s opera\u00a0<strong><em>Brundib\u00e1r<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. She studied initially with Prof. Anna Ollet, and later at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu with Prof. Dolors Aldea and Prof. Eduard Gim\u00e9nez, supported by two merit scholarships. She completed her Master\u2019s and Konzertexamen degrees at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin with Prof. Anna Samuil.
