Further dates include September 24, 27, 28 and 30, as well as October 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10, 2023.

Cameron Shahbazi: Opus Klassik award for benefit concert Woman.Life.Freedom.

Congratulations to Cameron Shahbazi on winning the Opus Klassik Award in the "Innovative Concert of the Year" category for the Woman.Life.Freedom. benefit concert in support of human rights in Iran, which has been initiated and produced by the artist. The event took place on December 12, 2022 at the Oper Frankfurt. All the raised money went to the non-profit organization Abdorrahman Boroumand Centre, which has been campaigning for more democracy in Iran for many years and documents the human rights violations committed there. The recording of this concert is currently available as a stream on IDAGIO and Deutsche Grammophon's STAGE+.

Cameron Shahbazi performs in a new opera Picture a Day Like This  from the acclaimed partnership of George Benjamin and Martin Crimp at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. The production is directed by Daniel Jeanneteau and Marie-Christine Soma. The premiere takes place on July 5 at the Théâtre du Jeu de Paume. The composer himself conducts the singers and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Following the invitation to the Leipzig Bach Festival, the countertenor Cameron Shahbazi pays tribute to the genius composer in a grand open-air gala alongside Lang Lang (piano), Daniel Hope (violin), Thomanerchor Leipzig, and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. The concert takes place on June 9 at the Market Square of Leipzig, giving a start to a very special year for the city, the 300th anniversary of the moment when on Bach took up his post as cantor of St. Thomas’ Church in Leipzig. The open-air event is organised in cooperation with Deutsche Grammophon.

Cameron Shahbazi: Premiere of Il Ritorno. The Year of Magical Thinking in Munich

Cameron Shahbazi makes his debut in Munich as Anfinomo in Il Ritorno. The Year of Magical Thinking, a new production of Claudio Monteverdi's opera combined with text by the renowned US writer Joan Didion, who died in 2021. The premiere is celebrated as part of the second edition of the "Ja Mai" Festival for early and contemporary music theatre, newly founded by the Bavarian State Opera. Responsible for the scenic realisation is the multiple award-winning drama director Christopher Rüping, who directs an opera for the first time at the festival. The performances take place on 7, 9, 11, 13, 16 & 18 May at the Cuvilliés Theatre.

Cameron Shahbazi: Benefit concert at Oper Frankfurt for human rights in Iran

Canadian-Iranian countertenor Cameron Shahbazi in collaboration with Oper Frankfurt & Opera for Peace presents a benefit concert called Woman.Life.Freedom to show solidarity with protesters in Iran. Along with Cameron Shahbazi, participating artists include harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani, sopranos Kristine Opolais, Lilian Farahani, Ambur Braid and Giulia Semenzato, cellist Kian Soltani, percussionist Naghib Shanbehzadeh, pianists Jeff Cohen and Sophia Muñoz, stage director Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau and more. The event will be attended by Bürgermeisterin (deputy mayor) of Frankfurt am Main Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg. This special one-night only concert will raise funds and awareness in support of the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran (ABC).
