Biography

American soprano Kathryn Lewek is a born communicator. Combining charismatic stage presence with a voice of sumptuous range, crystalline purity, and rich emotional power, she headlines major productions at the foremost opera houses and festivals worldwide, from New York’s Metropolitan Opera to Austria’s Salzburg Festival. Lauded in an increasing array of leading lyric and dramatic coloratura roles, including Mozart’s Queen of the Night, the signature role with which she has repeatedly broken records, Lewek also wins accolades for her orchestral collaborations and sensitive interpretations of contemporary art song. As the New York Times recognizes, “singing like Lewek’s is what the magic of opera is all about.”

Kathryn Lewek: The Magic Flute in London

Kathryn Lewek returns to the Royal Opera House in David McVicar’s production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, reprising her acclaimed portrayal of the Queen of the Night. Lewek can be heard in her signature role on October 10, 12, 14, 17, 20, 25, 28 and November 1 in the performances conducted by Marie Jacquot and Finnegan Downie Dear.

Kathryn Lewek joins the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen under the baton of Tarmo Peltokoski on their tour, performing a semi-staged production of The Magic Flute. The soprano reprises her renown portrayal of the Queen of the Night in Bremen on August 27, Hamburg on August 29, Dortmund on August 31 and at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest on September 7.

Marking the second anniversary of the Ho Guom Opera House, Kathryn Lewek and Joseph Calleja perform an opera gala on July 10 and 11. Presenting the arias by Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, and Giordano, the concert also features Marcelo Álvarez alongside top Vietnamese musicians such as People's Artist Bui Cong Duy, conductor Tran Nhat Minh, the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra, and choirs Phuong Nam and Gio Xanh.
