Biography

Amin Ahangaran, praised as a “full-bodied and firm bass” with a “beautiful nocturnal colour” (Opera Libera) and “one of the most charming voices of his generation” (OPERA Charm Magazine), is an alumnus of both the Accademia del Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence and the Zurich Opera’s International Opera Studio (IOS). A current ensemble member of the Opéra de Paris, Ahangaran is one of the announced participants of the renowned Operalia competition in Sofia, set to take place at the Bulgaria Concert Hall in October 2025. 

The highly anticipated 2025-26 season holds exciting roles for Amin Ahangaran: at Opéra de Paris he appears as Angelotti in Tosca, followed by Zaretsky in Ralph Fiennes’ new Eugene Onegin under Semyon Bychkov and Case Scaglione. Further in Paris, he portrays Parsi Rustomjiin in a new production of Glass’ Satyagraha  staged by Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber and led by Ingo Metzmacher, and closes the season as Dottore in La traviata. On the concert stage, the bass returns to the Zurich Opera as Brander in Berlioz’ La Damnation de Faust with maestro Yves Abel.

Amin Ahangaran: Rigoletto at the Paris Opera

The bass Amin Ahangaran takes the role of Il Conte di Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Paris Opera next to George Gagnidze in the title role and Slávka Zámečníková as Gilda. The production by Claus Guth is perfomed under the musical direction of Andrea Battistoni. The performances take place on May 10, 14, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30 and June 3, 8 and 12.

Amin Ahangaran: Don Carlos at the Paris Opera

The bass Amin Ahangaran performs as one of the six députés flamands in Verdi’s Don Carlos at Opéra de Paris next to Charles Castronovo in the title role. The production by Krzysztof Warlikowski is perfomed under the musical direction of Simone Young. The performances take place on March 29 and April 1, 4 ,9, 12, 17, 20, 25.

Amin Ahangaran: Pelléas et Mélisande at the Paris Opera

The bass Amin Ahangaran performs the role of Un médecin in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande at Opéra de Paris next to Sabine Devieilhe and Huw Montague Rendall in the title roles. The new production by Wajdi Mouawad is perfomed under the musical direction of Antonello Manacorda. The premiere takes place on February 28. Further performances can be experienced on March 4, 9, 12, 15, 18, 20, 25, 27.
