Cameron Shahbazi makes his debut in Munich as Anfinomo in Il Ritorno. The Year of Magical Thinking, a new production of Claudio Monteverdi’s opera combined with text by the renowned US writer Joan Didion, who died in 2021. The premiere is celebrated as part of the second edition of the “Ja Mai” Festival for early and contemporary music theatre, newly founded by the Bavarian State Opera. Responsible for the scenic realisation is the multiple award-winning drama director Christopher Rüping, who directs an opera for the first time at the festival. The performances take place on 7, 9, 11, 13, 16 & 18 May at the Cuvilliés Theatre.
