Biography

Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, possessing “a voice as if cut from crystal” (Salzburger Nachrichten) is considered in equal measure to be one of today’s foremost interpreters of lied and concert repertoire, and one of the most sought-after operatic artists. The soprano had her international breakthrough at the 2014 Salzburg Easter Festival as Zdenka in Strauss’ Arabella, co-starring with Renèe Fleming and Thomas Hampson under the baton of Christian Thielemann. For this role, she was voted “Young Artist of the Year” by Opernwelt magazine. The production was subsequently released on DVD under United Classica in partnership with C Major. Müller is a frequent guest of the world’s leading opera houses and festivals, including the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Metropolitan Opera, Dresden’s Semperoper, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opernhaus Zurich, and the Salzburg Festival, among others.

Soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller appears with mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke and conductor Daniel Harding at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome on June 5, 6, and 7, 2025. The program includes the world premiere of Enrico Scaccaglia’s Il carro del tempo and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection,” performed by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

Hanna-Elisabeth Müller: Italienisches Liederbuch in Zurich

Soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller together with baritone Yannick Debus will perform Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch at the Opernhaus Zürich on June 2, 2025. They will be accompanied by the Labyrinth Ensemble under the direction of Ann-Katrin Stöcker. The performance features Ralf Gothóni's chamber arrangement of Wolf's 46-song cycle, which sets German translations of Italian love poems by Paul Heyse.

Hanna-Elisabeth Müller: Recital in Cologne and Heidelberg

In May 2025, soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, pianist Juliane Ruf and clarinetist Daniel Ottensamer come together to perform a recital program featuring works by William Walton, Olivier Messiaen, Samuel Barber, Louis Spohr, and Edvard Grieg. The program will be performed at the Kölner Philharmonie on May 25 and at the Heidelberger Frühling festival on May 30.
