Biography
The young German soprano Charlotte Langner is one of today’s most promising emerging artists. Audiences and critics alike have praised her “soprano that shines in the upper register” (Westdeutsche Zeitung), her “flawlessly beautiful voice” (NRZ) and her “crystal-clear coloratura” (O-Ton). In the 2026/27 season, she debuts the roles of Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Adele in Die Fledermaus at Theater Lüneburg, and a Flower Maiden in Parsifal at the Nationaltheater Weimar. Her concert engagements include an aria recital at Teatro San Domenico in Crema and a performance of Hans Werner Henze’s Being Beauteous at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.

The young German soprano Charlotte Langner is one of today’s most promising emerging artists. Audiences and critics alike have praised her “soprano that shines in the upper register” (Westdeutsche Zeitung), her “flawlessly beautiful voice” (NRZ) and her “crystal-clear coloratura” (O-Ton). In the 2026/27 season, she debuts the roles of Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Adele in Die Fledermaus at Theater Lüneburg, and a Flower Maiden in Parsifal at the Nationaltheater Weimar. From 2024 to 2026, Charlotte Langner was a member of the opera studio at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where her roles included Luigia in Donizetti’s Prima la Mamma, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, the Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel, Ida in Die Fledermaus, Sarahil in Gounod’s Die Königin von Saba, the Train Bearer in Elektra, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro and Captain Flying Squirrel in Die blaue Sau. In summer 2026, she gave the world premiere of Thomas Blomenkamp’s Sklaverei ertrag ich nicht, a song cycle composed especially for her to texts by Ingeborg Bachmann. Further concert appearances have included performances with Rolando Villazón at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and at the musik westfalen festival.
She made her debut at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in the 2023/24 season as Uli in Lucia Ronchetti’s Das fliegende Klassenzimmer. Charlotte Langner completed her bachelor’s degree at the Mozarteum Salzburg, where her stage appearances included La Virtù and Damigella in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea. She subsequently completed her master’s degree with Konrad Jarnot at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, where she sang the title role in Cavalli’s La Calisto and is currently pursuing an advanced programme of excellence. While still at school, she studied with Juliane Banse as part of the university’s programme for exceptionally gifted young musicians.
Charlotte Langner began performing at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf as a teenager and made her stage debut as the Second Boy in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at Theater Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. She also played viola in the State Youth Orchestra of North Rhine-Westphalia.
She has attended numerous masterclasses and is a prizewinner in the junior category of the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin, a multiple national prizewinner at Jugend musiziert and a recipient of the special prize awarded by the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation. In summer 2026, Charlotte Langner won second prize at the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino.
