Biography

Edgardo Rocha is one of today’s foremost interpreters of bel canto repertoire, praised for his warm timbre, lively coloratura, and brilliant high notes. Since making his European debut in the title role of Gianni di Parigi by Donizetti at the Festival della Valle d’Itria di Martina Franca, the tenor is a frequent guest in the world’s leading opera houses and festivals, which include Opernhaus Zürich, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Bayerische Staatsoper, Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival.

Edgardo Rocha: The Tudor Trilogy at Grand Théâtre de Genève

Edgardo Rocha returns to the Grand Théâtre de Genève in Donizetti’s Tudors Trilogy consisting of the three operas: Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda and Roberto Devereux. The productions by Mariame Clément are performed under the musical direction of Stefano Montanari. Robert Devereux premieres on May 31 with Edgardo Rocha in the title role and Elsa Dresig as Elisabetta, Queen of England. The full trilogy can be experienced from June 18 to June 30.

Edgardo Rocha: Premiere of Gianni Schicchi at the Opéra De Monte Carlo

On February 23 tenor Edgardo Rocha performs Rinuccio in a new production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at the Opéra De Monte Carlo. The production is staged by Grischa Asagaroff and conducted by maestra Speranza Scappucci. Joined by soprano Nina Minasyan as Lauretta, Rocha can be seen in further performances on February 25, 27 and 29.
