Rolando Villazón and Kate Lindsey bring their acclaimed program Amore e Follia on tour. Featured works of Vivaldi, Rossini, Offenbach and others balancing between love and madness can be heard in Zlín on November 5, in Zurich on November 11, in Prague on November 22 and in Vienna on November 25. Amore e Follia concerts are accompanied by the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonics under the baton of Guerassim Voronkov.

Rolando Villazón: Festive opera night for the German Aids Foundation in Berlin

Rolando Villazón will host the program of the Festive opera night for the German Aids Foundation at Deutsche Oper Berlin on November 2. The traditional opera gala once again sends out a powerful signal of social solidarity and is held under the patronage of the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner. The show can be seen on 30 November, the evening of World AIDS Day, on 3sat and rbb.

Olivia Smith

Lauded for her “rich, humane soprano” (Opera Canada) and “convincing and poignant” portrayals (Boston Musical Intelligencer), in the 25-26 season Canadian soprano Olivia Smith joins the ensemble of Theater St. Gallen. Her engagements there include Mimì in La bohème, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and Helena in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen. She returns to the San Francisco Opera for her final performances in the prestigious Adler Fellowship Program, where she will be featured in Wagner’s Parsifal and in their annual Gala Concert, performing operatic arias and ensembles.

Patricia Nolz

The young Austrian mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with a Master's degree under Claudia Visca. She is a laureate of numerous competitions and was an Anny Felbermayer scholarship holder in 2019. In autumn 2020, she enjoyed great success with her debut as Cherubino in a new production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the Theater an der Wien, conducted by Stefan Gottfried and directed by Alfred Dorfer. After two years in the opera studio of the Vienna State Opera, where she celebrated her first successes as Cherubino, and as Zerlina in a new production of Mozart's Don Giovanni under Philippe Jordan, she joined the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera from 2022 to 2024. Patricia Nolz received the Austrian Music Theatre Award for her interpretation of Zerlina in Barrie Kosky's production of Don Giovanni. She enjoyed particular success at the Vienna State Opera as Cherubino in the new production of Le Nozze di Figaro conducted by Philippe Jordan and staged by Barrie Kosky, as La Musica & La Speranza in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, as well as Annio in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito, as Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia, as Siébel in Gounod's Faust, as Orlovsky in the traditional New Year’s Fledermaus, as Stéphano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and Silla in Pfitzners Palestrinaunder the baton of Christian Thielemann. Patricia Nolz made her debut at the Komische Oper Berlin in spring 2024 as Cherubino. The same production also marked her debut at the Edinburgh Festival that summer. In January 2025 she made her successful debut at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen with Rosina.

Soprano Serena Sáenz makes her highly anticipated house debut at Deutsche Oper Berlin singing the role of Lucia in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor on October 31 and November 5, 2024. The production, directed by Filippo Sanjust, features Ivan Repušić conducting the Orchestra and Chorus of Deutsche Oper Berlin. This debut marks Sáenz's first appearance on the Deutsche Oper Berlin stage in one of the most demanding roles of the bel canto repertoire.
