On June 15 Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts the MDR choir and symphony orchestra in Gewandhaus Leipzig as a part of this year’s Bachfest. The program presents orchestral versions of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565 and Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, BWV 645 followed by Tanejew’s Ioann Damaskin and Shostakovich’s Kazn’ Stepana Razina op. 119 sung by baritone Brian Mulligan.

Piotr Beczala stars at this year’s Summer Night Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic at Schönbrunn Palace. Kathryn Lewek reprises her interpretation of Gilda in Rigoletto at Cincinnati Opera and Los Angeles Opera. The soprano performs in Cincinnati on June 12 and 14 in a classical production featuring Michael Chioldi and Zach Borichevsky. Mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo returns to the Vienna State Opera as Octavian in Otto Schenk’s production of Der Rosenkavalier. D’Angelo shares the stage with Krassimira Stoyanova as the Feldmarschallin, Sabine Devieilhe in the role of Sophie and Günther Groissböck as Baron Ochs auf Lerchenau. The opera is lead under the musical direction of Adam Fischer and can be experienced on June 9, 12, 14 and 17.
