Director François Girard unveils an atmospheric staging, with music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium and a supreme cast: Tamara Wilson and Elena Stikhina, as the virtuous duchess Elsa, soprano Christine Goerke as the cunning sorceress Ortrud, Bass-baritone Evgeny Nikitin as Ortrud’s power-hungry husband, Telramund, and bass Günther Groissböck as King Heinrich. Mezzo-soprano Emily D'Angelo joins the Metropolitan Opera for their Concert of Remembrance and Hope for Ukraine to mark the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
