Piotr Beczała sings the title role of the mysterious swan knight in Wagner’s soaring masterpiece Lohengrin, which premiers on February 26 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Director François Girard unveils an atmospheric staging, with music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium and a supreme cast: Tamara Wilson and Elena Stikhina, as the virtuous duchess Elsa, soprano Christine Goerke as the cunning sorceress Ortrud, Bass-baritone Evgeny Nikitin as Ortrud’s power-hungry husband, Telramund, and bass Günther Groissböck as King Heinrich. More performances will take place on March 2, 5, 10, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28 and on April 01, 2023.
