Biography

Edgardo Rocha is one of today’s foremost interpreters of bel canto repertoire, praised for his warm timbre, lively coloratura, and brilliant high notes. Since making his European debut in the title role of Gianni di Parigi by Donizetti at the Festival della Valle d’Itria di Martina Franca, the tenor is a frequent guest in the world’s leading opera houses and festivals, which include Opernhaus Zürich, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Bayerische Staatsoper, Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival.

In the 2025/26 season, the tenor makes a remarkable role debut as Nemorino, first at Stadttheater Gießen and later at the Vienna State Opera in Otto Schenk’s celebrated production of L’elisir D’amore.

Edgardo Rocha: L’elisir d’amore at the Vienna State Opera

Tenor Edgardo Rocha appears as Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at the Vienna State Opera, in a classic production by Otto Schenk that captures the opera’s sparkling blend of comedy, romance, and heartfelt longing. The tenor shares the stage with Maria Nazarova as Adina, Stefan Astakhov as Belcore, Nicola Alaimo as Doctor Dulcamara, and Maria Zherebiateva as Giannetta, under the baton of Pier Giorgio Morandi. Performances take place on January 27, 31 and February 2, 5, 7 and 11.

Edgardo Rocha: Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra

Edgardo Rocha joins the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conductor Thomas Søndergård in the performances of Mozart’s Mass in c minor in Usher Hall Edinburgh and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Rocha is the tenor solist, Brenda Rae sings the soprano part, Katie Coventry the alto part and Andreas Landin the bass. The concert takes place on November 28 in Edinburgh and on November 29 in Glasgow.

Tenor Edgardo Rocha makes his anticipated role debut of Nemorino in Donizetti’s beloved comic opera L’elisir d’amore at Stadttheater Gießen. Rocha shares the stage with Julia Araújo as Adina and Clarke Ruth as Dulcamara. Rocha can be heard in Tamara Heimbrock’s production under the musical direction of Vladimir Yaskorski on October 10, 31 and November 21.
