Biography

French mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez is one of the most prominent stars of the opera world. After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the young mezzo-soprano made her debut at Opéra National de Paris in Michael Haneke’s production of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) under the direction of Philippe Jordan. Since then, Arquez has established herself on the international stage, performing in leading opera houses worldwide such as the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, the Opéra National de Paris, London’s Royal Opera House, the Berlin State Opera, Theater an der Wien and the Vienna State Opera. Celebrated early in her career with a 1st prize at the Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera Fellowship competition and a nomination for “Révélation Lyrique” at the Victoires de la Musique, she released her acclaimed debut album “Ardente Flamme” on Deutsche Grammophon in 2017.

Gaëlle Arquez: Cendrillon at the Opéra Royal de Versailles

Mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez returns to the Opéra Royal de Versailles in the title role of Rossini’s Cendrillon. The production by Julien Lubek and Cécile Roussat is sung in French and conducted by Gaétan Jarry. Arquez appears alongside Patrick Kabongo as the prince. Performances take place on October 11, 12, 14, 16, and 18.

Gaëlle Arquez: L’heure espagnole at the George Enescu International Festival 2025

Mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez takes on the role of Concepción in Maurice Ravel’s L’heure espagnole at the George Enescu International Festival 2025 in Bucharest. She joins the cast featuring Iván Ayón Rivas as Gonzalve, Mikeldi Atxalandabaso as Torquemada, Armando Noguera as Ramiro, and Manuel Fuentes in the role of Don Íñigo Gómez. James Gaffigan conducts the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, with stage direction by Gábor Tompa. The performance takes place on August 29 in Romanian National Opera Bucharest.

Tenor Rolando Villazón and mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez present a classical night with Spanish repertoire together with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid under the direction of Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra. The open-air concert taking place on July 20, 2025 in the Kurpark Wiesbaden features works by Manuel de Falla and excerpts from Georges Bizet's “Carmen” among others.
