Biography

French mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez is one of the most prominent rising stars of the opera world. After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the young mezzo-soprano made her debut at the Opéra Bastille in Michael Haneke’s 2013 version of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) under the direction of Philippe Jordan. Ever since, she has been frequently invited to sing in many of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Nominated “Révélation Lyrique” at the “Victoires de la Musique 2011”, Gaëlle Arquez released her highly anticipated debut recording “Ardente Flamme” for Deutsche Grammophon in 2017.

Gaëlle Arquez: Recital at the Opera Comique

On February 9 mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez gives a recital together with pianist Susan Manoff. The recital titled Love of Song presents Hector Berlioz’ Les Nuits d’été, six melodies composed by on poems by Théophile Gautier. The recital takes place in Salle Favart at the Opera Comique, Paris.

Gaëlle Arquez: Carmen at Berlin State Opera

Mezzo-Soprano Gaëlle Arquez returns to the Berlin State Opera in her signature role as Carmen. Arquez is joined on stage by Ivan Gyngazov as Don José, Łukasz Goliński as Escamillo, Clara Nadeshdin as Micaëla and Maria Kokareva as Frasquita. Martin Kušej’s production of Bizet’s masterpiece is performed under the baton of Valentin Uryupin. The opera can be experienced on December 7, 10, 13, 21, 27 and January 5.

Gaëlle Arquez: Recital at Les Journées Ravel

Mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez performs a recital together with pianist Mary Olivon under the auspices of the festival Les Journées Ravel. The festival pays a tribute to Maurice Ravel and the program therefore mainly consists of Ravel songs as well as pieces by Berlioz, Tailleferre and Fauré. The recital takes place on October 12 in the Église Saint-Éloi church in Montfort l'Amaury, France.
