Biography

French mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez is one of the most prominent rising stars of the opera world. After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the young mezzo-soprano made her debut at the Opéra Bastille in Michael Haneke’s 2013 version of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) under the direction of Philippe Jordan. Ever since, she has been frequently invited to sing in many of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Nominated “Révélation Lyrique” at the “Victoires de la Musique 2011”, Gaëlle Arquez released her highly anticipated debut recording “Ardente Flamme” for Deutsche Grammophon in 2017.

Gaëlle Arquez: Operngala in Saarbrücken

On Mai 18, Mezzo-soprano Gaelle Arquez stars at the opera gala of the Saarländischen Staatstheater in Saarbrücken. The mezzo-soprano presents a festive program of arias from Donizetti's “La Favorite”, Rossini's La Cenerentola and Verdi's Don Carlos. With roles from Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila and Delibes' Lakmé, she provides an insight into her extensive repertoire incl. her signature role Carmen.

Gaëlle Arquez: Iphigénie en Tauride in the Elbphilharmonie

On May 3rd mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez sings the title role in a concert version of Gluck’s opera Iphigénie en Tauride together with the Balthasar-Neumann Choir and Orchestra and conductor Thomas Hengelbrock. Alongside Arquez one can hear Alexandre Duhamel as Thoas, Domen Križaj in the role of Orest, Paolo Fanaleas Pylades and Marianne Croux as Diana. The concert takes please at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

Gaëlle Arquez: Alcina in concert

Mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez returns to the Opéra Royal of Versailles for a concert performance of Handel’s Alcina. Arquez takes the role of Ruggiero and is joined on stage by Lisette Oropesa in the title role. The concert takes place on April 29.
