Biography

French mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez is one of the most prominent rising stars of the opera world. After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, the young mezzo-soprano made her debut at the Opéra Bastille in Michael Haneke’s 2013 version of Don Giovanni (Zerlina) under the direction of Philippe Jordan. Ever since, she has been frequently invited to sing in many of the most renowned opera houses in the world. Nominated “Révélation Lyrique” at the “Victoires de la Musique 2011”, Gaëlle Arquez released her highly anticipated debut recording “Ardente Flamme” for Deutsche Grammophon in 2017.

Rolando Villazón and Gaelle Arquez: Spanish night at the Rheingau Music Festival

Tenor Rolando Villazón and mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez present a classical night with Spanish repertoire together with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid under the direction of Mexican conductor Alondra de la Parra. The open-air concert taking place on July 20, 2025 in the Kurpark Wiesbaden features works by Manuel de Falla and excerpts from Georges Bizet's “Carmen” among others.

Gaelle Arquez: Carmen at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma

Mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez makes her anticipated house debut at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in her signature role of Carmen. Arquez is joined on stage by Joshua Guerrero as Don José and Erwin Schrott as Escamillo. The production by Fabio Ceresa is lead under the baton of Omer Meir Wellber and can be experienced on June 21, 24, 26 and 28.
