Biography

Rising British-Russian baritone Theodore Platt, celebrated for his “warm and powerful English baritone” (Music OMH) is one of opera’s most promising young voices. He was a member of the Bayerische Staatsoper’s Opera Studio for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons. In 2022, he was named recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust (BBT) fellowship.

Theodore Platt, Jonah Hoskins: Guillaume Tell in St. Gallen

On May 5 a new production of Rossini’s opera Guillaume Tell premieres in St. Gallen starring baritone Theodore Platt who makes his house and role debut as the titular character and tenor Jonah Hoskins who is debuting the role as Arnold Melchtal. Both are joined on stage by Athanasia Zöhrer in the role of Mathilde. The new production by Julien Chavaz is performed under the baton of Michael Balke. Futher performances take place on May 12, 14, 17, 26 and June 2 and 6.

Theodore Platt: Recital with Keval Shah in the Wigmore Hall in London

On April 7, 2024, Theodore Platt, accompanied by the pianist Keval Shah, gives a recital entitled “Mortal wounds” in the Wigmore Hall in London. The program includes works by Francis Poulenc, Robert Schumann, William Grant Still, James Macmillan and others. On April 11, 2024, the artists will repeat the program at the Leicester International Music Festival.
