Olga Peretyatko is one of the most sought-after sopranos in the world. She achieved her international breakthrough in 2007 when she won second prize at Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition. Since then, she has appeared at leading opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, and the Opéra Bastille Paris, and has performed at renowned festivals in Salzburg, Baden-Baden, Aix-en-Provence, and Pesaro. In 2025, she was awarded the European Culture Prize for her outstanding artistic work.
The 2025/26 season begins with Olga Peretyatko performing as Giulia in Rossini’s lively comedy La scala di seta at the Zurich Opera House. Later, she appears there as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen. A special highlight of the season is the world premiere of Medusa, a new opera by British composer Iain Bell at La Monnaie in Brussels. Directed by Lydia Steier, the production presents the mythological Medusa as a complex female character for the first time. Olga Peretyatko sings the title role, with Michiel Delanghe conducting.

Recent role debuts include Norma at the Hamburg State Opera, Mathilde in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell in Tokyo, Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Berlin State Opera, and Margherita in Gounod’s Faust in Hamburg. Other iconic roles in her repertoire are Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto), Fiorilla (Il turco in Italia), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Norina (Don Pasquale), and the title role in Anna Bolena. She has also performed as Maria in Tchaikovsky’s Mazeppa in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s new production in Baden-Baden, portrayed Lucrezia Borgia in Bologna, and sang Liù in Philipp Stölzl’s Turandot at the Berlin State Opera. She achieved great success as the Nightingale in Stravinsky’s opera Le Rossignol (directed by Robert Lepage), as Marfa in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s provocative production of The Tsar’s Bride in Berlin and at La Scala, and as Leïla in Wim Wenders’ opera debut Les Pêcheurs des Perles under Daniel Barenboim.
As a celebrated concert singer, Olga Peretyatko regularly performs with renowned orchestras and conductors in prestigious concert halls worldwide, giving international song recitals. She sang Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with the Orchestre de Paris at the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez in Paris, and presented a program with the Danish Chamber Orchestra under Ádám Fischer during the Mozart Week in Salzburg. She performed Strauss’ Four Last Songs at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and on a China tour with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. In 2018, she celebrated her acclaimed solo recital debut at La Scala in Milan.
Olga Peretyatko has released six albums on Sony Classical and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the OPUS Klassik (2018), ECHO Klassik (Best Solo Album, 2015), and the Premio Franco Abbiati della Critica Musicale Italiana. In 2021, she released her new solo album Songs for Maya, dedicated to the birth of her daughter. Produced by the legendary Russian label Melodiya, the album features 23 lullabies from around the world, personally selected and sung by Olga in their original languages.
Born in St. Petersburg, Olga Peretyatko began her musical training in the children’s choir of the Mariinsky Theatre. After graduating from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, she studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera Studio, and the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro.
