Emily D‘Angelo: Releases her second Solo DG Album freezing

Emily D’Angelo’s second solo album for Deutsche Grammophon, freezing, comprises seventeen songs drawn from the folk tradition, art song and beyond. The Canadian mezzo-soprano offers a personal take on music that spans five centuries, ranging from songs by John Dowland and Henry Purcell; Rebecca Clarke, Zoltán Kodály, W.C. Handy and Philip Glass; to recent works by Randy Newman, Jeanine Tesori, Cecilia Livingston, “Adrian Ira” Kramer and US band Ween. D’Angelo is joined on freezing by Sophia Muñoz (piano), Bruno Helstroffer (electric guitar) and Jonas Niederstadt (bass guitar, synth, percussion). The album is released on August 30th on Spotify, Apple music, Tidal and other platforms.

Emily D'Angelo, Olga Kulchynska and Hanna-Elisabeth Müller return to the Bavarian State Opera for the revival of Mozart’s Idomeneo on July 5 and 8. D’Angelo as Idamante sings across Pavol Breslik in the title role in the 2021 production by Antú Romero Nunes. Kulchynska portrays Ilia and Müller takes on the role of Elettra with Ivor Bolton conducting.

Emily D’Angelo, Kate Lindsey: Cosi fan Tutte in the Vienna State Opera

Mezzo-sopranos Kate Lindsey and Emily D’Angelo perform a new production of Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte at the Vienna State Opera which premieres on June 16. Lindsey in the role of Despina and D’Angelo in the role of Dorabella are also joined on stage by Federica Lombardi as Fiordiligi, Christopher Maltman as Don Alfonso, Peter Kellner as Guglielmo and Felipe Manu as Ferrando. This production celebrates Emily D'Angelo's debut at Vienna State Opera. This new production is staged by Barrie Kosky and is lead under the baton of Philippe Jordan, music director of the Vienna State Opera. Further performances can be experienced on June 19, 22, 24, 26 and 28.
