On July 19, Tenor Jonah Hoskins joins the festival orchestra and conductor Jérôme Pillement at the 38th edition of Festival Un Violon sur le sable in Royan for a spectacular open-air concert at the beach Grande plage de Royan. Additionally to Hoskins the concert presents a number of soloists such as cellist Camille Thomas, musical star Léovanie Raud, violinist Liya Petrova and pianist Marco Poingt.

Soprano Serena Sáenz joins the cast of Benjamin a Portbou, a new opera commissioned by Gran Teatre del Liceu and composed by maestro Antoni Ros-Marbà. Sáenz sings the role of the symbolic Angelus Novus in this highly anticipated world premiere. The semi-staged production explores themes of exile and light, with Antoni Ros-Marbà himself conducting at nearly 90 years old. Performances are scheduled at the Liceu on July 19 and 21.
