The program features Franz Schubert’s deeply moving Schwanengesang (including songs such as Aufenthalt, In der Ferne, Am Meer, and Der Doppelgänger), the lesser-known Herbst D 945, and, following the interval, Schubert’s monumental Piano Sonata in B flat major D 960.

His roles range from Pizzaro (Fidelio), Wolfram (Tannhäuser), Amfortas (Parsifal), Wotan (Die Walküre, Das Rheingold), Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Orest (Elektra), and Jochanaan (Salome) to the title roles in Béla Bartók’s Duke Bluebeard’s Castle and Alban Berg’s Wozzeck.
