Biography

American soprano Kathryn Lewek is a born communicator. Combining charismatic stage presence with a voice of sumptuous range, crystalline purity, and rich emotional power, she headlines major productions at the foremost opera houses and festivals worldwide, from New York’s Metropolitan Opera to Austria’s Salzburg Festival. Lauded in an increasing array of leading lyric and dramatic coloratura roles, including Mozart’s Queen of the Night, the signature role with which she has repeatedly broken records, Lewek also wins accolades for her orchestral collaborations and sensitive interpretations of contemporary art song. As the New York Times recognizes, “singing like Lewek’s is what the magic of opera is all about.”

Kathryn Lewek: Carmen at the Nashville Opera

Kathryn Lewek makes her role debut as Micaëla in in Nashville Opera’s season-opening staging of Bizet’s Carmen directed by John Hoomes and conducted by Dean Williamson. Singing opposite her husband, tenor Zach Borichevsky as Don Jose and Marina Costa Jackson as Carmen, Lewek can be heard on September 26 and 28.

Kate Lindsey, Kathryn Lewek: Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Salzburg Festival

Kathryn Lewek and Kate Lindsey co-cast in Mariame Clément’ production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Salzburg Festival. Kathryn Lewek embodies all four heroines of the opera - Stella, Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta. Kate Lindsey takes on the role of The Muse and Nicklausse across tenor Benjamin Bernheim in the title role under the baton of Marc Minkowski. Offenbach’s Opéra fantastique can be experienced on August 13, 16, 21,24, 27 and 30.

Kathryn Lewek: The Magic Flute in Cleveland

Kathryn Lewek signs Queen of the Night in the new production of The Magic Flute for the 2024 Mandel Opera and Humanities Festival in Cleveland. Lewek performs her signature role with the Cleveland Orchestra under the baton of its Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, featuring Julian Prégardien as Tamino, Ludwig Mittelhammer as Papageno and Christina Landshamer as Pamina. Performances take place on May 16, 18, 24 and 26, 2024.
